Genting Food Trip

Firstly, thank you Nuffnang for this sponsored food trip to Genting with ladyironchef! I really enjoyed myself and I too had the chance to savour lots of good food *bliss* :')

Day 1:

We arrived in Genting in the early afternoon after the long coach journey. I miss Genting's cool weather so much!

It was free and easy the whole afternoon. After that, we met at the hotel lobby in the evening to head down to dinner at Genting Palace.

with HP and Clara.

Dinner at Genting Palace. This place is a gem!!! I wondered why did I not try this when I was in Genting 2 months back.

Brad and the organizers who made this trip possible.

DINNER TIME!!!! My stomach is READY for all the food :)

Special Four Variety "JiangNan" Platter
I love the fried (prawn?) balls! Cheese were oozing out and it is so yummy. The meatballs with radish were good too.

Double-Boiled Clear Chicken Soup with America Ginseng
This is good stuff! It is nutritious and tastes really good. I'm a soup person and this did not disappoint me.

Spices Baked Village Chicken
The skin do not have a thick layer of fat, great for the health-conscious who will feel less guilty after eating it.There were no signs of charring and the spices were delectable.

Steamed Red Snapper with Preserved Vegetable & Shredded Meat
The fish they served was really big and there was plenty of fish meat for 10 of us. We could not even finish it. I love how they add plentiful of shredded meat and vegetable on top of the fish.

Pan-Fried White Prawn with Mild Spicy & Sweet Chilli Sauce
Spiciness level is appropriate even for people who can't take spicy stuffs!

Braised Baby Abalone & Sea Cucumber with Bean Curd & Garden Green
I love this dish because there is abalone in it hehe! The abalone is very chewy but can be swallowed easily. The broccoli was not overcooked or undercooked.

Fried Rice with Chinese Sausage and Yam
The chef came and told us that this fried rice cannot be found outside so we must eat it haha so cute! This did not taste like the usual fried rice but still good.

Chilled Sweeten White Fungus with Red Dates & Lotus Seed
Desserts are a good way to wrap up a meal!

Soften Glutinous Ball stuffed with Mango & Cream
I thought this was mochi at first! The mango piece in the glutinous ball could be larger though. Beautiful presentation there.

Group photo with the Chef! What a satisfying and fulfilling dinner *loves*

After dinner, the group of us got tickets for Ice-Age 4 3D at First World Cineplex. I love the Ice-Age series! I never fail to burst into laughter whenever I watch the Ice-Age movies. I will recommend you to watch Ice-Age 4 if you haven't.

Day 2:

Brunch was at Resort Cafe - buffet style!

There is a wide variety of foods to choose from.

Dessert Corner - so many kuehs! Literally spoilt for choice.

Salad Corner for the health-conscious.

There is also a porridge section where there are so many toppings ranging from salted fish, scrambled eggs to fried tao pok!

After a heavy brunch, we headed to the Strawberry and Mushroom farm instead of the themepark because we already went there 2 months ago.

Welcoming us is the cute Strawberry Statue. It is free entry and the farm is quite huge for you to explore.

Clifford & I in front of the Strawberry Fountain~

That is where they grow all the strawberries!

Small and red strawberries dangling

They do sell fresh strawberries in packets there but I heard that they were quite sour. I'm not a fan of strawberries so I did not get any *phew*.

Giant lettuce

Lavender farm. This is a new addition added inside. So pretty! You've got to see it for yourself.

As we walked further down, we stopped at the strawberry cafe. Even the tables and seats are in the shape of strawberries. How cute?

Strawberry ice-pops. Very refreshing.

Mushroom Tempura.
Sooo good! They also sell other food like strawberry chicken wings.etc and many types of strawberry drinks. If only there is a food tasting session there :P

After the short tea break, we walked further up to the mushroom farm.

So that's how they grow their mushrooms o.O It is an eye-opener for me.

beautiful isn't it?

I got these oyster mushroom crisps snacks in Black Pepper and Original and they are really yummy.

We spotted this giant pumpkin along the way.

After the visit, it's time to go back!

We headed back to the hotel for some rest and did some shopping at First World before assembling at the hotel lobby for dinner.

Dinner on Day 2 was at Coffee Terrace.

Coffee Terrace serves international cuisine and the buffet spread there is very extensive. The place is huge and is suitable for large groups.

Besides Nonya and Local favourites; they have Indian, Japanese and Asian cuisines.etc

Salad Bar Corner.

Salted Yolk Garoupa, Stingray, Fish wrapped in Spinach and cheese, Sambal Bonjour, Chicken..
I love the salted yolk garoupa!!

Roasted lamb, beef steak, sashmi.etc were available. It was a pity I do not appreciate beef, otherwise I would have snatch up the medium rare steaks.

Happy us after a bloated meal.

After dinner, we headed down to Arena of Stars for Khalil Fong's concert.

I was surprised that rides in the themepark were still in operation at 8+pm.

Check out the Space Shot in the distance. It's pretty cool to take a ride up there in the fog and chilly weather. In my opinion, Space Shot is the scariest ride in the themepark. I was not daunted by the other rides except this. I took the Space Shot 4 times 2 months back and till now, I still feel scared at the thought of it.

The bloggers were seated in cat 1 while the guests were seated in cat 3. One of the things I enjoyed the most were the beautiful light sticks that the people were mass flashing in darkness. It was a very beautiful sight.

方大同 performing! I was surprised that Genting has a place for concerts. That was something I did not know! The concert was rather boring for me as I only know one song of his which is "爱爱爱".

After the concert, we went to the newer and older casino to look around. It was already 1+ am. Time passes so quickly when you are having fun. By the time we got ready to sleep, it was already 2+ am! Thank goodness I blacked out before I could hear Clifford's snores hehe (oops)!

Day 3:

We had a 15-course breakfast feast. It was so scary, the dishes just kept coming and coming. When the 8th dish was served, we asked the waitress how many more dishes were there and she told us there were around 4-5 dishes more. You should have seen the expressions on our faces. We were all so shocked.

First up was minced meat century egg porridge which I didn't manage to take a picture of because we slept so soundly and were late. The porridge was very yummy though.

Steamed Spare Ribs with Black Bean Sauce
My dad would have wiped this dish clean because he loves Spare Ribs. I do not like Spare Ribs but this looked good.

Deep-fried Yam Puff (Wu Kok)

Loh Mai Kai (Glutinous Rice)

Chef's Signature Golden Liu Sha Bao
This made me fall in love with liu sha bao which is also known as salted egg yolk custard bun. Mad yummy!!

Char Siew Pau

Steamed Beancurd Skin Roll

Steamed Siew Mai & Har Gow

Chee Cheong Fun

Assorted Dry Noodles

Baked Egg Tart

Stir-fry seasonal Vegetables

Fried Carrot Cake
This is one of my favourite dishes!

Group photo. There were so much food that we could not finish and we packed back what we could. Breakfast is my least favourite meal because I always do not have much appetite in the morning. Still, I wish my stomach is big enough to try everything!

Chilled Sweetened Sea Coconut with Aloe Vera
Lastly, dessert! Like I've mentioned earlier, a meal is never complete without dessert :) It was a refreshing ending to a heavy breakfast.

That was a really sumptuous breakfast to start our day with!

We even had a pack of mooncake each to bring back. How nice of them? :)

Lastly, a picture of me and Brad.

Genting is not just a place for casinos. If you do know where to walk, you will discover many other entertainments that will make your trip an enjoyable and fulfilling one :)

  5. 15 course for a breakfast!? Way too much. Even if it was dinner/lunch also cannot finish haha.

I heard that when plucking strawberries, the sweetest ones are those with weird shapes. Those with nice shapes are sour.
