L'Oreal Cosmetics Workshop - Pimp Your Nails!

Some time ago, I blogged about L'Oreal Cosmetics Workshop with the makeup topic being the creation of Dolly Eyes. If you haven't read about it, check it out here! This time round, the theme is about NAILS!

LOrĂ©al Paris has created a series of nail polish (a total of 30 different colours!) that will allow you to surely find the perfect colour to wear to match your outfit any day, every day!

The nail polish comes in small bottles so that if we were to carry it around, it won't take up much space. Furthermore, one thing about nail polishes is that we rarely ever use up the entire bottle. We will thus have the tendency to use finish the small bottle of nail polish without having to waste half a bottle! Plus, with so many different shades of colours, you'll surely be able to find colours that can match your everyday outfits.

‘Built-in Topcoat’ The Color Riche formulas contain film-forming polymers for shine and ‘crystal acrylic’ that functions as built-in topcoat to provide toughness and magnified shine to ensure the purest, truest color that lasts for up to ten days. The pigments in Color Riche are dispersed in ultra-fine particles for unique color intensity. The formulas are combined in a liquid gel base that glides on easily during application and provides even coverage over the entire nail surface. Thanks to this brilliant formulation, it prevents spreading the polish too thinly to avoid the runs and drips of classic nail polish.

Application made easy and smooth! The stem specially designed for the product to adhere to the centre of the brush to deliver just the right dose of product. The internal and external capillaries of the bristles serve as reservoir to ensure better nail polish application. Flat and rounded brush, the splayed tufts make application more comfortable and control the flow of the nail polish so that each stroke applies an even layer all over the nail.

At the workshop, we were shown two tutorials.

1st (colourful) design:

Firstly, apply 2 coats of desired base colour.

Next, choose a contrasting colour and apply it at both sides of your nail. A silvery pearl colour was used.

Blue was the third colour used for this design to overlap in the middle on top of the pearl and red colour.

Pink colour was then applied on the sides of the nail to create the design, followed by the pearl colour again!

Here's the end result! Depending on your outfit that day, you can dress up your nails to coordinate the colours of your outfit. It is a simple and fuss-free design!

Polkadots design:

As usual, apply 2 coats of base colour.

Look at that gloss! Can you believe that the gloss was achieved without any top coat? It looked just like gelish nails!

Most of us do not have the nail tipping tool for creating dots and circles.etc An economical way of creating the same effect is using a bobby pin and a small slip of aluminium foil. Simply dab some nail polish onto the aluminium foil and use the tip of the bobby pin to dab on the nail polish to create the polkadots. The size you will achieve depends on the strength you use.

Now I finally know how to create that polkadot design without much effort!

After the tutorials, it was time for us to be creative and try designing our own nails.

Here are the 5 pretty colours that I got in my L'Oreal bag!

What my friend got. I borrowed her green because I really like that shade.

Now......... Let me show you my design which was done without any ideas. I just randomly did my nails without any expectations of how it would turn out to be like.

Step 1: Apply a layer of base colour

Step 2: Apply 2nd layer of base colour
With just 2 coats, you can see the colour intensity!

By the time I was done with applying the base colour on my pinky finger, I could proceed to do the design for my thumb as the nail polish had dried up by then.

The nail polish has a built-in top coat so there was no need for me to apply any top coat!

design for thumb

design for index finger

ta-da~ My impromptu nail design!

Not bad right??

It can also last for up to 10 days, which it did for me (probably because I did not do any housework.etc too).
